2011: Health insurance fund surplus of 5,000 billion VND
Information from Vietnam Social Security on January 1 said that in 2011, the health insurance fund is expected to collect 29,000 billion VND from 56 million health insurance participants.
Meanwhile, in 2011, people with health insurance cards visited 110 million times, an increase of 7.8% compared to 2010, with an estimated cost of 24,000 billion VND. Not including the reserve fund contribution, it is expected that the health insurance fund will have a surplus of 5,000 billion VND in 2011. This amount will be used in case hospital fees increase in 2012.
This year is the second consecutive year that the health insurance fund has a surplus, after the period 2006-2009 when the fund continuously overspent and went bankrupt by about 2,000 billion VND. According to Vietnam Social Security, this year only Phu Tho province has a health insurance fund deficit, a sharp decrease compared to 2010.
