In 2013, NGOs donated $250 million

On December 31, in Hanoi, the Committee for Foreign Non-Governmental Organization Affairs held its annual meeting with foreign non-governmental organizations.

The meeting aimed to summarize foreign NGO activities in 2013, share the results of the Third International Conference on Cooperation between Vietnam and Foreign NGOs and introduce the Action Plan of the National Program on Aid Mobilization Promotion for the period 2013-2017.

Attending the meeting were representatives of about 250 foreign non-governmental organizations operating in Vietnam; bilateral and multilateral development cooperation agencies; Vietnamese ministries, branches, provincial People's Committees, representatives of foreign non-governmental focal points of provinces, local unions and Vietnamese people's organizations.

In 2013, foreign NGOs and donors continued to commit to implementing humanitarian and development projects in Vietnam.

According to incomplete statistics from the People's Aid Coordination Board of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations, foreign non-governmental organizations have sponsored about 250 million USD to Vietnam, focusing on the fields of socio-economic development, healthcare, solving social problems, education-training and natural resources-environment in 63 provinces and cities nationwide./.
