2015 continues to impose price ceiling on milk for children under 6 years old

According to the Ministry of Finance, as of December 5, the price management agency has announced the maximum price and registered price of 606 milk products for children under 6 years old. Of which, the Ministry of Finance announced 165 products, and the Department of Finance of provinces and cities announced 441 products.

Regarding prices, after applying price stabilization measures, since June 2014, milk prices for children under 6 years old have decreased and stabilized. The reduction rate is about 0.1-34% depending on the type of milk compared to the time before applying price stabilization measures.

The representative of the Ministry of Finance also said that the ministry is currently synthesizing reports from localities summarizing the 6-month implementation of price stabilization measures, and providing guidance on price declaration after the price registration deadline (November 31, 2014). At the same time, this agency continues to strengthen coordination with the Ministry of Health (Department of Food Safety) to review the registration/declaration of prices of new products of enterprises trading in milk for children under 6 years old.

In 2015, the Ministry of Finance will continue to coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to continue applying measures to regulate maximum prices for milk products for children under 6 years old according to the Government's policy; at the same time, guide enterprises to declare prices according to the provisions of law.

At the same time, the authorities receive and review price declaration records of organizations and individuals producing and trading milk for children under 6 years old according to the current price management hierarchy, ensuring that the declared price does not exceed the current maximum price.

In addition, the Ministry of Finance continues to coordinate with ministries, branches and localities to regularly monitor, review and inspect the import prices of raw materials and finished milk products of organizations and individuals producing and trading milk to promptly take appropriate measures to manage, regulate and stabilize prices.

The Ministry of Finance continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade and requests localities to strengthen inspection of the implementation of legal regulations on prices for organizations and individuals producing and trading milk for children under 6 years old in the area.

Before the expiration of the price ceiling measure (May 31, 2015), the Ministry of Finance will coordinate with the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Health, localities and relevant agencies to summarize and evaluate the results of implementing price stabilization measures and propose measures to apply for the next period./.
