2016: Touchscreen phones dominate
According to the latest forecast data from ABI Research, touchscreens will increasingly gain market share in the coming years, especially in the smartphone segment.
ABI Research predicts that by 2016, touchscreens will be present in about 97% of smartphones on the market – an impressive growth compared to the current market share of touchscreens.
Currently, according to experts at ABI Research, the strong development of smartphones will significantly affect the presence of touch screens on these devices.
Back in 2006, touchscreens made up just 7% of all smartphones on the market. However, they have really grown impressively, reaching over 75% of all smartphones in 2010.
With a 325% growth over a five-year period, analysts at ABI Research are optimistic that touchscreens will continue to grow strongly over the next five years.
ABI Research added that the development of screens and touch technology in recent years are significant factors contributing to the growth of touch screens in the market.
However, in the coming time, screen devices and touch technology will have to continue to innovate and progress to be present more on mobile devices other than popular phones...
