Nam Dan meets with war veterans and former youth volunteers who participated in the fight against the French
(Baonghean.vn) - On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2014), Nam Dan district organized a meeting with war veterans and former youth volunteers who participated in the resistance war against the French.
During the resistance war against the French colonialists, which culminated in the Dien Bien Phu victory, along with the army and people of the whole country, Nam Dan had tens of thousands of sons and daughters directly participating in the fight and serving the fight "to die for the Fatherland", many of whom remained forever or left a part of their blood and bones on the battlefield. Among the sons and daughters of Nam Dan who participated in the resistance war against the French, there are currently 690 war veterans living in the district. At this meaningful meeting, the war veterans and former Youth Volunteers together recalled the memories of a time of hardship, sacrifice but also extremely heroic and glorious to contribute to the epic of Dien Bien Phu "shaking the world".

At the meeting, on behalf of the Party Committee and people of Nam Dan, comrade Thai Thanh Quy - Provincial Party Committee member, Secretary of Nam Dan District Party Committee expressed deep gratitude for the contributions and sacrifices of generations of fathers and brothers for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland, and hoped that the war veterans and former youth volunteers would continue to promote the noble qualities of "Uncle Ho's soldiers", set a shining example to educate the younger generation to appreciate history, raise national consciousness and revolutionary fighting spirit, follow in the footsteps of their fathers and brothers to build and firmly protect the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. On this occasion, the district leaders also presented gifts to 115 war veterans and former youth volunteers.
