As one of the typical cultural villages of Nam Dan with a rich cultural life, Trung Can Cultural Village is associated with the historical relic of Trung Can communal house - one of the relics with artistic architecture ranked at the top of the Nghe An relic system. Trung Can communal house was built in the post-Le dynasty. Trung Can village originally had 3 Nguyen family members who passed the doctoral exam, namely Nguyen Trong Duong, Nguyen Trong Duong and Nguyen Trong Thuong; to welcome the 3 men, the village held a festival to celebrate, decided to build a communal house to preserve their achievements and also to remember the most important day of the village. Since then, every 2 years, the village holds a festival (Ky Yen Festival on the 15th day of the 2nd lunar month and Ky Phuc Festival on the 15th day of the 6th lunar month). The ceremony is solemnly organized, with a procession carrying umbrellas, palanquins, and tablets of the 3 doctors. The festival has all the traditional games such as swing, wrestling, cuu robbery, chess, human chess, tug of war... lasting 3-4 days. Then the war, time, 60 consecutive years the village did not have the conditions to organize the village festival again.
Mr. Le Van Cuong - Party cell secretary, Hamlet chief said: Preserving cultural heritage is one of the important tasks in the movement to build a Cultural Village. With the consensus and agreement of the people, Trung Can communal house has been restored and embellished 3 times. Especially after the hamlet was recognized as a Cultural Village (in 2007), the hamlet executive committee decided to restore cultural activities at the communal house such as organizing meetings with excellent students, students passing university and college entrance exams; organizing longevity celebrations for the elderly on the occasion of the beginning of Spring and New Year; creating conditions for children and grandchildren to come and offer incense on the 15th and 1st of every month...
In particular, in 2011, with the consent of the People's Committee of the commune, Trung Can hamlet organized an incense offering ceremony to commemorate the achievements of the doctors who had contributed to the development of Trung Can land. On this occasion, the hamlet mobilized people to contribute 70 million VND to buy some furniture for the communal house. In accordance with the wishes of the people, starting from 2012, the village organized a grand ceremony every 5 years and annually organized incense offering on the Hung King's death anniversary on March 10.
Mr. Le Xuan Tam - Deputy Director of Nam Dan Cultural Center said: One of the movements that the district has paid great attention to in recent times is "The whole people unite to build a cultural life". In which, focusing on building cultural, information and sports institutions to meet the needs of organizing cultural, information and sports activities for local people. From only 114 old-style hamlet cultural houses (clubhouses) with substandard scale (in 2001), by 2012, the whole district had 330 hamlet and block cultural houses; 12 communes and towns had national standard cultural, information and sports institutions; 90 clubs are operating regularly, of which more than half are mass art clubs and folk song clubs of fabric wards. Thanks to the active activities of these clubs, hamlet meetings, festivals and New Year's Eve have more diverse and attractive cultural programs. Although they are just "homegrown" performances, they have truly brought new vitality to grassroots culture.
Quang Thai village communal house.
To gradually meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people, many historical and cultural relics in the area have been restored and embellished with funds contributed by the people. For example, Dong Chau communal house has been moved to its old foundation by the people of Quang Thai village, Nam Trung commune, and restored to a more spacious state. Many communes have completed the public lighting system. A typical example is Van Dien commune, which has completed the upgrading of all hamlet cultural houses. Although Nam Kim commune has difficult economic conditions, it has mobilized and promoted the internal strength of the people, and in a short time, 100% of hamlet cultural houses have been built to meet standards. Hong Long commune is the first commune in the district to have a closed public lighting grid. In addition, projects have been developed: Improving the quality of cultural life, cultural families; environmental sanitation... From a commune with an underdeveloped cultural life, Hong Long has now risen to an excellent level in building a cultural life.
In addition to mobilizing internal resources in building cultural and sports works, Nam Dan also mobilizes people's strength in organizing spiritual and cultural activities. People voluntarily contribute funds and actively participate in cultural and sports activities. In addition to holidays and Tet, there are two major festivals a year: Mai King Festival and Sen Village Festival - commemorating Uncle Ho's birthday. Nam Dan people enthusiastically participate in the festival without hesitation about contributions. These activities not only contribute to improving the spiritual and cultural life of farmers, but also contribute to creating a modern civilization for today's countryside.
