Dr. Nguyen Hoang Duc, Head of Urology Department,Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine and Pharmacy Hospital, saidTesticular cancer is very common in adult men aged 20 to 35. It is estimated that on average, one in 263 men will have this disease. Statistics in the US nIn 2016, 8,720 cases of testicular cancer were detected, of which 380 people died.

According to Dr. Duc, the cause of testicular cancer is currently unknown. Some studies have shown that people with undescended testicles have a 4 to 8 times higher risk of cancer than normal. The rate of contralateral testicular cancer in people who have had testicular cancer increases from 1 to 2%. This risk also increases in men with genetic abnormalities such as Klinefelter syndrome 47 XXY or due toeffects of agent orangeIn addition, infertile men are also three times more likely to develop testicular cancer.

To prevent and detect cancer at an early stage, Dr. Duc advises all men to examine their testicles daily. If an unusual hard mass appears in the testicle, they should see a urologist or andrologist for early diagnosis and intervention. In fact, most men are reluctant to go for health screening, so the disease is often detected at a late stage. Some cases of cryptorchidism have turned into cancer, making treatment more complicated.

The patient had a history of undescended testicles.from childhoodtesticles located in the abdomen instead ofin the scrotum as normal. The patient said that at the age of 10, he had surgery at the provincial hospital to move the right testicle down to the scrotum, but the left testicle was still left because the doctors could not find it.
