Previously, on a Facebook page named THK, information about a kidnapping was posted. Accordingly, the victim was a male student named Nguyen Quoc Cuong (grade 11, Do Luong 1 High School). According to this Facebook page, at around 7:30 pm on March 28, Cuong was sprayed with sleeping gas until he passed out, then tied up and put on a motorbike. When being transported to the field of Lac Son commune (Do Luong), the victim woke up from the drug, struggled to untie himself and ran away and was fortunately helped by people who were looking for eels. The victim was then taken to the hospital to receive first aid and had 5 stitches on his leg.

In a short time, this information had more than 1,000 shares. Many people were extremely confused, especially when there was information that the victim's mother went to the Do Luong District Police to report. On March 29, the Do Luong District Police directed the Da Son Commune Police Department to verify the incident.

“Verification shows that this was not a kidnapping. On the evening of March 28, at the gate of Hamlet 12, Cuong met a young man. This man carried a plastic can and invited Cuong to buy gasoline, so Cuong got in the car. After that, Cuong told his mother that he was sprayed with sleeping gas and tied up, making the incident seem like a kidnapping. What we are concerned about is that Cuong refused to provide information about this young man. Cuong's statements have many contradictions, so we are still continuing to verify further," said Mr. Thuy.

According to Mr. Thuy, at the field of Lac Son commune - where Cuong is said to have regained consciousness and freed himself from the kidnappers, the police confiscated one of Cuong's slippers, but could not find his sweater. Currently, the commune police are asking Nguyen Quoc Cuong to write a report on the incident. After the rumor of being kidnapped, on the morning of March 30, Nguyen Quoc Cuong returned to school as usual.

Authorities identified the person who posted the information on social media as Huynh Tien Hoang (born in 1987, living across from Cuong's house). The information that Hoang got was from Cuong's mother. Nguyen Tien Hoang has now removed the information from his personal Facebook page.
