Nhat Vu said that on holidays and Tet, his village often organizes competitions in stick pushing, tug of war, and ball throwing... I really liked seeing the uncles and brothers compete, but because I was too young, I was not allowed to participate. It was not until he studied at Luu Kien Secondary School for Ethnic Minorities that Nhat Vu had the opportunity to practice and compete in these traditional sports. During a period when the school selected athletes to train in preparation for the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the district level, Vu was chosen to participate in practicing stick pushing and tug of war.

Thanks to his health, endurance, good technique and tactics, Nhat Vu easily reached the highest position in this weight class. With the easy win of the Gold Medal at the Phu Dong Sports Festival at the district level, Nhat Vu was the first name selected for the district pole pushing team to participate in the 20th Nghe An Province Phu Dong Sports Festival in 2024 held in Vinh city.
