Phan High School's male student with the highest score in block B Nghe An with the desire to follow in his father's footsteps

In the recent National High School Exam, student Bui Dinh Hieu - a 12A1 student at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, with a total of 3 subjects achieving 29.55 points: Math 9.8, Chemistry 10, Biology 9.75, and excellently won the top position in group B of Nghe An province. The dream of becoming a good doctor to help the poor get medical treatment is the motivation that helps the young man turn his dream into reality, entering Hanoi Medical University.

Clear goals, strive to keep the "center"

Born into an intellectual family, Bui Dinh Hieu has always received the attention and active support of both his father and mother since childhood. He showed outstanding academic ability since his primary school years, always being the focus of subject teachers when choosing students for the exam.

“Parents need to guide and set goals for their children so that they have awareness, will, and determination to strive. Since primary school, I have guided my child to strive to enter Dang Thai Mai Secondary School. Therefore, at each level of education, he tries to achieve specific plans in his studies,” said Ms. Le Thi Dung, Hieu’s mother.

In the entrance exam to Dang Thai Mai Secondary School, Dinh Hieu achieved a total score of 29.125, placing him in the top 10 students with the highest entrance scores in the school. Hieu said that he always felt lucky to learn from the special teaching method of teacher Nguyen Thi Hien Luong, who teaches Math.

“Ms. Hien Luong is strict, encouraging, motivating, and always creates excitement. The more I study Math, the more interesting it becomes. I always want to explore difficult problems and solve them as quickly as possible. And especially, I am never satisfied with myself,” Hieu recalls.

Considered the "center of attention" since elementary school and always wanting to stay the "center of attention", along with the passion and "inspiration" of his teachers, Hieu became one of the 10 students with the highest entrance score in the Math class at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted.

Secrets to high scores in high school exams

Right from the beginning of grade 12, Hieu made a study plan for each subject, identifying Chemistry as the "youngest" subject in the exam block. In addition to supplementing knowledge, solving practice tests is the way to practice test-taking skills and consolidate knowledge in the most effective way. According to Hieu, it is thanks to solving many tests, having to do 8-9 tests every day, carefully checking for mistakes that helped Hieu not be surprised by long exams and difficult questions.

“The test is all multiple choice so there is no time for candidates to look back and review; doing the test slowly but surely is my experience in the process of regularly solving test questions to get high scores. I will do the easy questions correctly to have time to solve the difficult questions, being careful will help me get the best results on the test", Hieu shared the secret to getting high scores.

Dream to becomefuture doctor

Living in a family with a mother who is a university lecturer and a father who is a doctor, Hieu has loved his father's medical profession since he was a child. The stories his father shared after surgeries were about the joy of success or the hardships and difficulties of the patients' families. Occasionally, he followed his father to the hospital and witnessed the difficult circumstances of the patients, which ignited in Hieu a dream of helping the poor. Therefore, the decision to enroll in Hanoi Medical University is to fulfill the long-standing dream of the top student of group B. Hieu shared: "Hanoi Medical University has a very high entrance score every year, so I thought I would not be allowed to make mistakes, just one wrong idea would ruin my dream."
