Young man under 30 years old with 3 prison sentences
(Baonghean.vn) - Having been to prison twice for "Sexual intercourse with children" and "Illegal drug trafficking", Bang continued to go to prison for the third time when he bought hundreds of millions of dong worth of crystal meth to store for later use.
Nghe An Provincial People's Court has just held the first instance trial of the criminal case of "Illegal possession of narcotics" against Tran Viet Bang (born 1989), residing in Dien Thanh commune, Dien Chau district.
According to records, in 2009, Bang was sentenced by the People's Court of Cau Giay District, Hanoi City to 42 months in prison for "Sexual intercourse with a child". Not long after being released from prison, in 2014, Bang was sentenced by the People's Court of Dien Chau District, Nghe An Province to 36 months in prison for "Illegal drug trafficking".

After serving his prison term, Bang relapsed into drug addiction. On the morning of March 22, 2018, Tran Viet Bang went to Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district to meet and buy 120 million VND worth of crystal meth from an unknown man to bring home and hide.
At around 5pm on April 1, Bang took two packages of drugs and hired a taxi to go to a motel to use them. He was discovered and arrested by the Do Luong District Police working group along with nearly 100g of crystal meth. When searching Bang's residence, the police seized an additional 563.608g of drugs.
At the trial, the defendant Bang confessed to all his crimes. The defendant said he was addicted to crystal meth and bought it for his own use, not to sell for profit. Tran Viet Bang hoped to receive leniency from the law so that he could soon return to work to support his elderly mother and young children.
Considering the case comprehensively, the People's Court sentenced Tran Viet Bang to 20 years in prison for "Illegal possession of narcotics".
