On August 1, Bo Trach District Police (Quang Binh) prosecuted Nguyen Van Thanh Tan (24 years old, residing in Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City) for theft. The suspect was released on bail due to a hospital confirmation of heart disease.
At around 10:30 a.m. on July 31, Tan stopped by a woman's house in Phu Dinh commune (Bo Trach district) to invite her to buy incense to support the pagoda.
When the female homeowner entered the house to ask her husband's opinion, Tan stole a phone worth nearly 5 million VND and then drove away on a motorbike.
Discovering the theft, the victim's family chased and caught Tan. At the investigation agency, the young man confessed to buying monk clothes, shaving his head, selling incense, and taking advantage of careless houses to steal property.
