In the agricultural sector, there has been a shift in crop structure, seasons, and exploitation of land potential. Some key crops such as rice, peanuts, corn, and beans of all kinds have been standardized in terms of varieties, which has contributed to increasing productivity and ensuring quality. Livestock has become the main sector in agriculture, with emphasis on fattening cattle; aquaculture continues to be maintained, with 7 farms in 2010 and 6 more in 2014, bringing the total to 13 farms. Small-scale industries and occupations continue to be maintained and developed, with some traditional occupations such as carpentry, masonry, mechanics, repair, milling, and agricultural product processing continuing to expand. Currently, the commune has about 300 households working in small-scale industries. Many groups working in construction, carpentry, mechanics, etc. have appeared and are expanding to do business in other localities and Laos.
Implementing the new rural construction, Nam Trung focuses resources on investing in infrastructure construction; up to now, about 95% of the commune and hamlet road system has been hardened to ensure rural road standards according to the regulations of the Ministry of Transport. Along with that, upgrading, refurbishing, purchasing and equipping 14/14 hamlet cultural houses, with an average value of 35 million VND/house and upgrading the commune cultural house with a cost of 300 million VND; building more than 9 km of new canals with solid concrete worth nearly 8.5 billion VND. Basically, the construction of the school infrastructure system, medical stations, commune offices and expanding and building a new Rong market with a value of over 16 billion VND...
The cultural and social fields receive investment attention. Every year, the rate of students graduating from junior high school reaches 99.1%, the rate of students graduating from junior high school to high school reaches 85-86%; universal preschool education for 5-year-old children meets the universalization criteria as prescribed; the quality of key education in schools is focused on, the number of qualified teachers is now 100%; excellent teachers and students at all levels increase every year. People's health care is well organized and implemented, there are no epidemics every year. The number of people participating in health insurance has reached 76.6% so far...

The cultural and spiritual life of the people has been significantly improved, the number of households meeting the cultural family standards each year reaches 82 - 85% (the congress target is 82 - 85%). Social policies and policies for people with revolutionary contributions have been implemented promptly and accurately. During the past term, 13 gratitude houses and 25 solidarity houses were supported with over 80 million VND. Currently, the whole commune has over 400 workers working abroad, earning an estimated 50 - 60 billion VND annually, contributing to a significant increase in income for many households. The poverty reduction program has been effectively organized and implemented, the poverty rate in 2010 was 12.3%, by 2014 it was only 4.7%, and it is estimated that in 2015 it will be 3.5%.
Based on the achieved results, with the goal of continuing to exploit potentials and strengths, and at the same time, taking advantage of external support, in the 2015 - 2020 term, Nam Trung commune will promote economic growth and shift the agricultural and rural economic structure in a sustainable and comprehensive manner, constantly improve people's lives, maintain national defense - security and social order in the area, do a good job of Party building and political system from commune to hamlet; strive to soon become a commune with a developed economy, advanced culture, and become a model new rural commune.
