In Nghe An, the project, implemented by OXFAM Hong Kong in coordination with the Provincial Women's Union from March 2012 to February 2015, selected two communes, Yen Hoa and Nga My (Tuong Duong), to implement. With the goal of reducing poverty and improving the quality of life of the poor and disadvantaged in Tuong Duong district, mainly focusing on poor and near-poor women (accounting for 76%).
After 3 years of implementation, 8 intergenerational self-help clubs have been established with 507 members aged 50 and over, receiving support in kind, working days, funding, low-interest loans, etc. to develop the economy, reduce poverty, and improve their lives. In addition, project members also participate in training courses to improve life skills, apply science and technology to production, and how to take care of their health at home, and exchange and learn from each other's experiences through seminars and conferences. Thanks to that, the number of poor households has decreased compared to the initial survey.
To maintain the project, from now to the following years, the project will continue to promote 8/8 clubs in 2 communes Yen Hoa and Nga My (Tuong Duong) and at the same time replicate the model in other communes.
