(Baonghean.vn)- On August 20-21, in Cua Lo Town, the People's Petition Committee of the National Assembly Standing Committee held a "Conference to improve the effectiveness of people's petition work associated with the implementation of the Constitution".

Comrades Huynh Ngoc Son - Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly, Nguyen Duc Hien - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the National Assembly's Petition Committee, and Le Quang Huy - Deputy Secretary of Nghe An Provincial Party Committee co-chaired the conference.

In recent times, the work of receiving citizens, receiving and handling petitions, complaints, denunciations and recommendations sent to the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the National Assembly Delegation and National Assembly Deputies has been strengthened, with improved quality and efficiency. Coordination between relevant agencies has been promoted and put into practice. The work of supervising and resolving citizens' complaints and denunciations has received attention, with emphasis on supervising many specific cases. Supervision of the settlement of voters' recommendations has gone into depth, focusing on pressing issues arising in socio-economic life, which has been welcomed, agreed with and highly appreciated by voters and people.

The effectiveness of supervision is not high, and the coordination between the agencies of the National Assembly, the agencies of the National Assembly Standing Committee, the National Assembly Delegation, the National Assembly Deputies and relevant agencies still has some shortcomings...

At the conference, delegates presented papers, focusing on the following topics: Improving the effectiveness of citizen reception work of the National Assembly agencies and the National Assembly Standing Committee, of the National Assembly delegation and of the National Assembly deputies; Improving the quality of synthesizing voters' opinions and recommendations, supervising the settlement of voters' recommendations in conjunction with the implementation of the Constitution; Relations between the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and relevant agencies and organizations in the work of supervising the settlement of complaints and denunciations, supervising the settlement of voters' recommendations, etc.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly - Huynh Ngoc Son suggested that the activities of the National Assembly and People's Councils at all levels, including the work of people's petitions, must continue to be innovated to meet the aspirations of the people and voters, contributing to improving the effectiveness and efficiency of elected bodies in particular and the state apparatus in general, especially in the context that we are actively implementing the 2013 Constitution, many important laws have been and are being considered and promulgated by the National Assembly.

He suggested that the conference should continue to clarify the current situation, what has been done and what has not been done in the work of receiving citizens; receiving, processing, monitoring and urging the settlement of citizens' petitions, complaints and denunciations; the work of meeting voters, summarizing opinions and petitions through voter meetings; summarizing the situation of petitions and the results of monitoring the settlement of petitions, complaints and denunciations; clarifying the main causes and objective causes affecting the effectiveness of the activities. Thereby, proposing specific issues that need to be improved in these activities, ensuring that the work of petitioning people is not considered a formality or ineffective.
