Improving communication skills for prenatal and newborn screening project

(Baonghean.vn) - On May 21, the Department of Population and Family Planning of Nghe An province organized a training course to improve communication skills in implementing the prenatal and newborn screening project for population officials of the districts: Nam Dan, Do Luong, Thanh Chuong and Vinh City.

Overview of the training session

The project to improve population quality through propaganda and mobilization for early detection and intervention of fetal and neonatal diseases in the period of 2012 - 2015 in Nghe An province was implemented in 480 communes, wards and towns in 21 districts, cities and towns in the whole province. Prenatal and neonatal screening is extremely important in detecting, intervening and treating early diseases, metabolic and genetic disorders right at the fetal and neonatal stages, minimizing the rate of newborn diseases and deaths, helping mothers give birth to children who are healthy both physically and mentally.

Through the training course, population officers will have a firm grasp of knowledge about prenatal and newborn screening to promote and mobilize pregnant women to participate in prenatal and newborn screening and diagnosis programs, in order to reduce the risk of children being born with diseases, contributing to improving the quality of the population in the province.

After this training course, according to the plan, the second training course is scheduled to be held on June 4, 2014, for population officials of the districts: Anh Son, Con Cuong, Tuong Duong, Ky Son, Thai Hoa Town, Nghia Dan, Yen Thanh, Dien Chau; the third training course will be held on June 10, 2014 for population officials of the remaining districts and towns in the province.
