Enhancing the educational role of families in implementing Traffic Laws
(Baonghean) -In recent years, the number of vehicles participating in traffic has increased rapidly, while many young people and students, when participating in traffic, deliberately weave and zigzag as a challenge. The provincial police had to establish 3 special task forces including: Traffic police, criminal police, public order police and mobile police to patrol 24/24 hours, almost without a night of rest.
There are many reasons why many people speed, drive recklessly, compete for the right of way, weave in and out of traffic... (mainly young people and students). The main reason for this situation is that families do not care about and educate their children.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Quang Tho - Deputy Head of Traffic Team, Vinh City Police said: From the beginning of 2011 until now, Vinh City Police has arrested 37 cases of speeding and reckless driving, temporarily detained 40 motorbikes with illegal weapons, mainly young people and students. On average, each morning, they arrest 10 - 15 motorbikes driven by underage students, these cases are also accompanied by other violations such as: not wearing helmets, carrying more people than prescribed, speeding and reckless driving, weaving...
Recently, a Vinh City police officer was injured while chasing a group of students who were speeding and recklessly encroaching on the road. In addition, these subjects fought back, assaulted the police officer, and then escaped in a car. Many people, when participating in traffic, drove on the right side of the road but still got into an accident due to the swerving and weaving of the young people. The sad thing is that many parents, when they know their children have violated the law, still try to cover it up for fear of "losing face", and assert that their children are very obedient, so the police must have arrested them by mistake...
The situation of young people not wearing helmets, speeding and reckless driving
is increasing.
Although the functional forces, the core of which is the traffic police force, have proactively coordinated with local authorities to deploy many professional measures, arresting subjects who weave and zigzag, causing traffic disorder. However, the implementation is not synchronous between levels and sectors, so it has not been effective, and violations of the Traffic Law still occur. Looking at the current reality, the root cause of the weaving and zigzag situation is due to lax management by many families. The Traffic Law stipulates: "For motorbikes and scooters, people who are 18 years old can drive" but many families have let their children ride motorbikes, even some children born in 1997 have their parents buy motorbikes to go to school.
It is time for all high schools and universities in the city, ward People's Committees, businesses, agencies and each family to propagate and educate students, youth, and their children to commit not to ride motorbikes or scooters when they are under 18 years old and do not have a driver's license; not to illegally store weapons. It is recommended that schools, if students violate one of the above regulations, will be disciplined by lowering their conduct, having their academic records recorded... If they are working at agencies, the agencies must also have appropriate disciplinary measures if they violate; forced labor for youth in wards and communes. And, the most important thing is still the family. If the family is lax and does not care about educating their children, then the 3 special patrol teams that have been and are patrolling, but dozens of special patrol teams are like a drop in the ocean.
