(Baonghean.vn) -This morning, December 26, in Vinh city, Nghe An province, the 16th summit of provinces of the three countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand using Highway 8 and Highway 12 took place.

Attending the event were 9 delegations including: Nghe An, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh (Vietnam), Bolikhamxay and Khammouane (Laos), Na Khon Phanom, Sa Kon Na Khon, Noong Khai and Bung Can (Thailand). On the side of Nghe An province, there were comrades: Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Le Xuan Dai - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and representatives of provincial departments, branches and sectors.

Before the conference, there was a special art program by the Nghe An Ethnic Song and Dance Troupe praising the people and land of Nghe An and the solidarity and friendship between the three countries of Laos, Vietnam and Thailand.

In his welcoming speech at the conference, Mr. Ho Duc Phoc - Chairman of Nghe An Provincial People's Committee affirmed: In recent years, the Association of Provinces Sharing Road 8 and Road 12 of the three countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand (abbreviated as APOTC) has achieved remarkable achievements in economic, trade, cultural, educational, sports and tourism cooperation; making an important contribution to enhancing the friendly and cooperative relationship between the three countries for peace, stability and development in the region. Nghe An, as an active member of the Association, has made many contributions to the overall development of the Association.

In addition to the basic advantages, due to the difficult economic conditions of the provinces in the sub-region, the differences in laws and administrative procedures, the cooperation results are not commensurate with the potential and strengths of each province. Although the provinces have focused on reforming administrative procedures, creating favorable conditions for people, vehicles and goods to travel between countries, they have not yet met the requirements of the integration trend. Tourism activities have been promoted but in general have not created a strong breakthrough; infrastructure as well as service quality in the tourism sector, although they have been invested in and upgraded, there are still differences between provinces. The number of enterprises linking and cooperating to invest in economic development between provinces is not much.

At this conference, representatives of 9 provinces of 3 countries Vietnam - Laos - Thailand all gave speeches to evaluate the implementation of the contents of the Minutes of the 15th APOTC Conference, emphasizing the potential and advantages of each province and proposing appropriate cooperation directions in the coming time, aiming to deepen the friendship and cooperation between provinces in the APOTC Association and achieve higher efficiency.
