Ms. Nguyen Thi Phu, a sugarcane juice seller at Vinh market, said: “Because of the hot weather, the amount of sugarcane juice has increased 3-4 times compared to before. This year, due to the epidemic, there are fewer customers selling on the spot, but in return, many people buy to take home or order delivery. My family has 3 juicers and 3 sugarcane peelers working at full capacity to meet the needs of customers. On average, our facility sells about 500 - 600 liters of sugarcane juice to the market every day, after deducting costs, we still make a profit of about 700,000 - 1,000,000 VND.”

Quickly grasping the needs of consumers, this season, fruit shops and stalls in the market all sell various types of juice: orange, pineapple, watermelon, carrot, etc. In Hung Dung market alone (Vinh city), there are about 30 stalls selling various types of juice, mainly for take-out. "After customers choose to buy various types of fruit, we squeeze the juice, charge an additional fee, we can sell the goods and earn extra money from squeezing the juice, it's a win-win situation," said Mr. Hung, the owner of a fruit shop in Hung Dung market.
Faced with the complicated epidemic situation, people are hesitant to eat and drink in public places, so refreshment shops quickly switched to selling bottled sugarcane juice, coconut juice, and various fruits, with home delivery. The main buyers are office workers, construction workers, students, etc. With the characteristic offresh fruit juice, no added sugar so it is popular with many people. Demand is high, sales are good, so even though "working for profit", the beverage business in peak season still earns quite a bit of money...

Pineapple is expensive, so the price of juice has also increased, 1 liter of pure pineapple juice costs 40,000 VND; pineapple juice squeezed with carrots costs 35,000 VND/liter; pineapple juice with aromatic leaves costs 42,000 VND/liter...
Due to the hot weather, coconuts are very popular. In recent days, coconut growing areas in the province have been crowded with traders buying coconuts. Mr. Ho Dang Tu, a coconut buyer in Quynh Xuan ward (Hoang Mai town) said: "At the beginning of the dry season, coconuts are starting to be harvested, so the purchase price is higher. After another month, when households sell coconuts in bulk, the price will be more stable."
Currently, coconuts purchased from trees (picked by traders themselves) cost 8,000 VND/fruit; pre-picked coconuts cost 9,500 VND/fruit. After purchasing coconuts from households, traders will transport them to refreshment shops to sell at prices ranging from 13,000 - 15,000 VND/fruit.

In the local markets in Vinh city, coconuts cost from 13,000 to 18,000 VND/fruit (local coconut), 15,000 VND/fruit of Siamese coconut and 20,000 VND/fruit of Siamese coconut. Mr. Nguyen Huu Thanh, owner of a Siamese coconut dealer at Vinh wholesale market, said: "On average, our dealer sells 3,000 coconuts per day, mainly to refreshment shops in Vinh, coconut jelly makers and wholesale to the districts. The hotter the weather, the more coconuts are sold, there are times when supply cannot meet demand."

On Nguyen Canh Chan Street (Hong Son Ward, Vinh City), which specializes in selling sugarcane, these days, trucks and cyclos come to buy in bulk. There are stores that wholesale thousands of bundles of sugarcane every day. Compared to last year, this year, the price of sugarcane has increased from 500 - 1,200 VND/tree. Specifically, the price of purple sugarcane is 100,000 - 120,000 VND/bundle of 10 trees; green sugarcane juice is 35,000 VND/bundle of 10 trees.
In addition, cooling fruits such as passion fruit, watermelon, oranges, etc. have also increased in price compared to before. Currently, watermelon costs 15,000 - 20,000 VND/kg; passion fruit costs 25,000 VND/kg, oranges 55,000 VND/kg. In particular, PQ tangerines are chosen by many people to squeeze for refreshing juice because the price is cheaper (15,000 VND/kg) even though before this fruit was unsold and had to be "rescued" with a "cheap as free" price (2,000 - 5,000 VND/kg).
