Raise gasoline import tax to 12%

Import tax rates on petroleum products will be adjusted up from today (July 3).

The Ministry of Finance has just issued Circular No. 109 dated July 3, 2012 guiding the implementation of preferential import tax rates for a number of items in group 2710 in the Preferential Import Tariff.

Accordingly, RON 97 and higher gasoline, leaded; RON 97 and higher gasoline, unleaded; RON 90 and higher gasoline, but below RON 97, leaded; RON 90 and higher gasoline, but below RON 97, unleaded; Other, leaded; Other, unleaded; Aviation gasoline, except for that used as jet fuel; Tetrapropylene; White spirit; Solvents with a low aromatic content of less than 1% by weight; Other light solvents; Naphtha, reformate and other preparations for blending motor gasoline; Other alpha olefins and other types are all subject to a tax rate of 12%.

Light crude oil; Raw materials for the production of carbon black; Refined mineral oil for the production of lubricating oil; Lubricating oil for aircraft engines; Other lubricating oils; Lubricating grease; Transformer oil and oil for circuit breakers have a tax rate of 5%.

Hydraulic brake fluid (brake fluid) is subject to a 3% tax rate.

Diesel fuel for automobiles; Other diesel fuels have a tax rate of 10%. Fuel oil; Aviation engine fuel (jet fuel) with a flash point of 23o C or higher; Aviation engine fuel (jet fuel) with a flash point below 23o C; Other kerosines are subject to a tax rate of 12%; Other intermediate oils and preparations are subject to a tax rate of 15%; Other are subject to a tax rate of 3%.

Petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals (other than crude) and preparations not elsewhere specified or included, containing by weight 70% or more of petroleum oils or of oils obtained from bituminous minerals, these oils being the basic constituents of the preparations, containing biodiesel, other than waste oils which carry a tax rate of 5%.

Waste oil containing polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), polychlorinated terphenyls (PCTs) or polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs) and others is subject to a tax rate of 20%.

This Circular takes effect from today (July 3).
