Raising the responsibility of sectors at all levels in the fight against drugs

(Baonghean.vn) -Continuing the working session, this afternoon, October 6, under the chairmanship of comrade Tran Hong Chau - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee listened to and gave opinions on the following contents: results of 10 years of implementing Directive No. 07-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee (Term XV) on strengthening the fight against drugs and the situation of resolving internal and urgent cases in the province.

After 10 years of implementing Directive 07-CT/TU, the fight against drugs has been strongly strengthened and has achieved certain results. The direction and implementation, propaganda and education work, and drug prevention have been strengthened with the participation of all levels, sectors, cadres, party members and people; the coordination in the fight against and control of drugs among the forces: Police, Border Guard, Military, Customs has been tighter and achieved many important results. Drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management have made new progress, with all levels and sectors taking drastic action. The work of handling cadres and party members involved in drugs has been strictly implemented...

However, the fight against drugs still has some shortcomings, such as the awareness of some Party committees and authorities is not high, the results of fighting opium replanting are not sustainable, the work of controlling drugs, eliminating hotspots and networks is still very complicated; the work of drug rehabilitation and post-rehabilitation management is not effective and sustainable...

Concluding this content, comrade Tran Hong Chau acknowledged the efforts of sectors at all levels in implementing Directive 07; the efforts of specialized forces have contributed to curbing the increase of this type of crime, basically eliminating and preventing re-planting opium poppies; curbing the increase of addicts, bringing addicts into drug rehabilitation programs; building a network of drug rehabilitation centers and post-rehabilitation management in drug hotspots. However, the leadership and direction in some places is not resolute, some places are leaving it to specialized forces; the work of drug rehabilitation, anti-relapse, post-rehabilitation management is not good; investment in equipment for specialized forces for this work has not met the requirements.

The Standing Committee highly agreed on the necessity of issuing a new directive to replace Directive 07 to respond to the new situation with the increase of this dangerous type of crime; at the same time, assigned relevant departments to review and edit the content, and together with the summary of 10 years of implementing Directive 07-CT/TU, a new directive will be issued.

Next, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee listened to the report of the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission on the handling of outstanding and urgent cases in the area. After listening to the opinions of the comrades in the Provincial Party Committee's Inspection Commission, comrade Tran Hong Chau assigned the Inspection Commission to coordinate with the Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies to review, select, and group the cases for handling and submit them to the Standing Committee and the Inspection Commission for consideration and comments./.
