Raising the responsibility of sectors and levels in the fight against drugs

(Baonghean.vn) -This afternoon, September 24, under the chairmanship of Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Duc Phoc, the Provincial People's Committee continued its regular September meeting to listen to and give opinions on the results of 10 years of implementing Directive No. 07-CT/TU of the Provincial Party Committee (15th tenure) on strengthening the fight against drugs; the draft continues to implement the period 2012-2015.

The report of the Steering Committee for Drug Prevention and Control stated that after more than 10 years of implementing Directive 07 of the Provincial Party Committee, Party committees from the provincial to grassroots levels have directed the entire political system to participate in drug prevention and control work resolutely. Propaganda work has been promoted, and all levels and sectors have implemented many effective solutions to control drugs and drug addiction. The work of eliminating the replanting of plants containing narcotic substances in conjunction with the work of converting the structure of crops and livestock in border areas has received attention. The work of combating, controlling and eliminating key drug-related areas has had positive changes.

In the work of drug addiction treatment and post-treatment management, many new models and good practices have appeared, such as the model of groups of friends helping friends in Tan Son (Do Luong), Hung Long (Hung Nguyen), the Party cell helping drug addicts in Nam Phay village (Que Phong)... The whole province has had 17,285 people undergoing drug addiction treatment, 3,318 people after treatment have been taught a trade, 1,301 people have been given jobs... However, the work of fighting drug addiction still faces many difficulties: the number of drug addicts is increasing (currently the whole province has more than 5,000 addicts), the control of the amount of drugs smuggled across the border is not effective; the situation of replanting plants containing narcotic substances has not been thoroughly resolved.

Concluding this content, comrade Ho Duc Phoc emphasized: In the coming time, it is necessary to focus on prioritizing all resources, funding, means, and equipment for drug prevention work; promptly develop and promulgate incentive mechanisms and policies for those directly involved in drug prevention work; consolidate and build synchronous, solid, and modern concentration camps; enhance coordination between sectors, attaching responsibilities of sectors, agencies, and units to drug prevention work. The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee assigned the Public Security sector to revise and complete the draft Directive of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on continuing to strengthen leadership and direction in drug prevention and control work in the new situation to replace Directive 07.

Also this afternoon, the Provincial People's Committee listened to and commented on the Draft Amendment to Decision No. 42/2008/QD.UBND regulating the minimum taxable revenue for rental services of houses, kiosks, premises, and factories for production and business in the area; the Draft Resolution submitted to the Provincial People's Council on the proposal to recognize the Dinh River urban area, Quy Hop district as a type V urban area.
