NASA announced the successful creation of a nuclear reactor for Mars
NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) announced that it has just successfully conducted tests on a closed nuclear reactor of the Kilopower Project dedicated to Mars (Marx).

The reactor is called Kilopower. With this positive result, NASA hopes to be able to sustain human life on the Moon, Mars and planets further away in the Solar System. With a special operating mechanism, this nuclear reactor can provide energy for a device that converts the natural resources available on Mars into gas, water and oxygen.
It is known that this great program, NASA cooperates with the US Department of Energy - both announced the first test results at a press conference held in Las Vegas on January 19.
“Kilopower is capable of generating up to 10 kilowatts of energy – more than enough to power an average US home. This achievement is key to solving the problem of humans living longer on the Moon, Mars or the surface of outer space.”
Kilopower will give astronauts the opportunity to work in extremely harsh conditions, said Patrick McClure, the project's leader:
“A nuclear reactor in space could provide a high power source with the ability to operate independently of solar or other available energy, and the ability to operate in harsh conditions, like those on the surface of Mars.”
According to analysts, this is a great success for NASA. In the future, Kilopower will help astronauts live easily on Mars or other planets in the solar system.
