According to the Turkish daily Hurriyet, a delegation of 20 NATO officials from the European Command (EUCOM) recently inspected the Diyarbakir air base in Türkiye to ensure the availability of this base in case of a military option against Syria.

The newspaper said the NATO base in Dyabakir is the headquarters of the 2nd Air Force instead of the Pirinclik air base.

According to the US and Turkish plans, the Pirinclik base, the closest to Syria, will play a central role in case of military action against Syria.

Although the US Department of Defense claims that the Pirinclik base was handed over to the Turkish armed forces in 1979, the base is still used as one of 24 NATO bases through Türkiye and the NATO early warning radar system.

Incirlik, another NATO airbase in Anada (southern Türkiye) also close to the Syrian border, is being used by the bloc as a command center for secret operations against Syria./.
