- After 60 years working in the education sector, when you read information about conflicts between parents - teachers, teachers - students, how do you feel?

- I am very sad to see many stories of teachers being assaulted and forced to kneel by parents, kindergarten teachers slapping or beating students. This is completely unacceptable.

I went to school during the French colonial period (before 1945), when the tradition of respecting teachers was always maintained. At that time, it was normal for students to be forced to kneel or slapped. No matter what, parents never reacted by storming into the school and beating the teacher.

I say it's normal not to justify why teachers abusing students is right, but it's normal in the social context at that time.

For me, in any society or circumstance, teachers using measures that negatively affect students' psychology or body should be strictly prohibited.

In my 60 years as a teacher, I have never used violence against a student. Some of my students are over 80 years old, and they still come to visit me every year.

The actions of parents forcing teachers to kneel or beat them represent the "law of the jungle", and it is only used when the official law is weak.

- Regarding the case in Long An, we need to understand that the motives of the teacher forcing the students to kneel and the parents forcing the teacher to kneel are different. If the teacher considers forcing the students to kneel as education - even though this method is wrong - then the parents should report it to the principal. The teacher will be disciplined according to school regulations. The teacher forcing the teacher to kneel is revenge.

I propose that the principal of the school where the incident took place should be removed from the education sector, because the school is an administrative unit, not just anyone can come in and out, to assault teachers like that.

The teacher was even made to kneel for 40 minutes without the principal knowing. This person is completely unworthy of being the head of the school.

In addition, we need to give feedback to the parent representatives who witnessed the incident and did not fulfill their role.

The story in Long An also did not feature security guards - the people who carry out school safety duties. They let strangers walk around freely in the school and insult teachers.

Low input, many students do not have jobs after graduation. One of my students after graduating from Hanoi Pedagogical University said that he could not find a job, wanted to become a permanent employee but had to pay money, his family did not have enough money to teach so he had to take the entrance exam to National Economics University to do other jobs.

Even if there are jobs, teachers' salaries are low, especially for preschool teachers. Many preschools have been opened illegally for a long time without any management. Children are not properly looked after and educated, leading to a series of abuse cases in recent times.

If the education sector does not pay enough attention to teachers, they cannot work wholeheartedly with wages that are not enough to live on. Without solving the problem of treatment and salary for teachers, education cannot make significant progress.
