(Baonghean) -From March 5-7, 2010 (January 20-22), the Van Temple - Cua Rao Festival took place. This was the first time the festival was held at the district level and was a great success.

Van - Cua Rao Temple (Tuong Duong district, Nghe An) was built in the early 19th century to worship General Doan Nhu Hai who helped King Tran defeat the Ai Lao invaders, protect our country's borders, and at the same time worship the Three Holy Mothers in the Four Immortals of Mother Goddess Religion in Vietnam. These are sacred gods who have many contributions in the process of building and defending the country, and have contributed to protecting the country and its people. The temple is located on Con Den, where archaeologists have discovered valuable archaeological sites from the Phung Hung period such as bronze axes, bronze drums, bronze weapons and some household items such as stone axes, grooved grinding wheels, bronze bells, etc. In 1938, King Bao Dai - the last king of the Nguyen Dynasty came here to visit the temple.

Attending the Van Temple - Cua Rao festival were representatives of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Committee, Nghe An Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nghe An Culture and Sports Center and Nghe An Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, leaders of Tuong Duong, Con Cuong, Ky Son, Que Phong districts, leaders of 18 communes and towns and more than 10,000 people from all over the district and outside.

This is the festival with the largest number of participants in the past five years. After the traditional ceremony, the festival took place very excitingly, with beautiful camping competitions, culinary competitions, Thai Lai Pao writing competitions, folk singing, folk dancing, folk music of ethnic groups, con throwing competitions and traditional sports.

This Van Temple - Cua Rao Festival not only satisfies the people's desire to pay respect to the nation's roots, but also reflects the subtleties of art forms imbued with folk culture. Especially the cultural exchange of mass art troupes, teams participating in sports competitions, camping, writing Lai Pao, culinary competitions,...

The new feature of the Van Temple - Cua Rao Festival is the harmonious combination of ceremony and festival, which has reduced the theatrical form in the festival, bearing a very clear ethnic cultural mark, no more superstitious practices, no commercialization,... This year's festival is also a concentrated expression of socialization in festival organization. The success of the Van Temple - Cua Rao Festival in 2010 is the result of elaborate and thoughtful preparation, the result of the convergence of intelligence of the Standing Committee of the District Party Committee, the Standing Committee of the People's Council - People's Committee and mass organizations and the consensus of all the people. Especially the help of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Monument Management Board of Nghe An province and of businessmen, enterprises, philanthropists and all the people.

After 3 exciting and bustling days, the 2010 Van Temple - Cua Rao Festival has ended, leaving a deep impression in the hearts of every visitor with deep feelings and gratitude full of promise in the land of Tuong Duong, rich in historical and cultural traditions, and leaving a sacred mark in every person.
