Neymar: 'Pique's message was just a joke'

PSG's new player, Neymar, confirmed that Pique's posting of a photo hinting at him staying at Barca was just a joke.

The photo posting took place during Barca's tour of the US. Amid rumors that Neymar was preparing to join PSG, Pique posted a photo of the two on Instagram and wrote: "He will stay."

On August 4, after completing the transfer, Neymar explained: "It was just a playful moment. We had just finished lunch and Pique took a photo to post on the internet. I asked him not to post it. It was just his feelings at that moment."

Neymar's transfer cost a world record $257 million. PSG did not need to negotiate with Barca to buy, but activated the contract's buyout clause with the player's personal approval.
