The Russian Defense Ministry denied allegations that its aircraft violated NATO airspace. |
"We were really surprised to learn about the statement of Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolai Nenchev on local television NovaTV that over the past month, Russian military aircraft with "disabled transponders" allegedly increased violations in some areas of "NATO airspace in the Bulgarian area of responsibility," Defense Ministry spokesman Major General Igor Konashenkov said.
He noted that Russian air force aircraft have regular scheduled flights over the Black Sea, but their flight routes are in strict accordance with international regulations on the use of airspace over neutral waters.
