Russia shows off its forces in celebration of victory over fascism
(Baonghean) - To commemorate the Allied victory over the Nazis in World War II, Russia has planned to hold a military parade on Red Square on May 9. Many people believe that the parade is intended to demonstrate Russia's military strength, especially after the Ukraine crisis began a year ago.

On this occasion, the Russian army will introduce to the public new military weapons such as the SV-Koalitsia gun and especially the Armata T-14 tank model. The Armata T-14 tank models will be put into use in 2016, but before that, it was introduced by Russia as the most powerful weapon in the world, completely superior to its Western competitors. Accordingly, the Armata T-14 tank has a remote-controlled turret and an automatic loading system.
More than 16,000 soldiers, 194 armored units and 143 helicopters will march in Moscow on May 9. More than 1,300 foreign soldiers, including Serbs, Indians and Chinese, will also march through central Moscow. The parades will begin on May 4 and culminate on May 9.
The Moscow government has invited 68 world leaders, but only about 20 have accepted the invitation to attend the ceremony in Moscow. Among the leaders who have accepted the invitation are Chinese President Xi Jinping, Cuban President Raul Castro, and UN Secretary General Ban Ki Moon. The French President will not attend the ceremony, but French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius will attend instead.
70 years have passed since the end of World War II, but the Russian people in particular and people around the world in general have never forgotten the lessons it left behind. In Russia, according to a recent poll, 42% of Russians consider Victory Day the most important holiday of the year, more important than Christmas or their own birthday. This can also be seen as an understandable thing when this war took the lives of at least 27 million Soviet people in the process of defending the country and liberating people of other countries from fascist regimes.
