Russia warns Britain is threatening European security by calling for 'pumping' weapons into Ukraine
Russia warned Britain that by "pumping" weapons into Ukraine, London was undermining European security.
The comments came after the British Foreign Secretary urged Western countries to provide Ukraine with "heavy weapons, tanks and fighter jets", while boosting the defence capabilities of Moldova and Georgia.
Speaking to reporters on April 28, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that "the trend of pumping weapons, including heavy weapons, into Ukraine and other countries is threatening continental security and causing instability."
Earlier, on April 27, British Foreign Secretary Liz Truss gave an important speech. She opposed the view of "not providing heavy weapons for fear of making the situation worse", and affirmed that "doing nothing is the biggest provocation" in the current situation.
Ms Truss assessed that "the architecture built to ensure peace and prosperity has failed in Ukraine" with "the economic and security structures of the post-World War II and Cold War era being bent".
The British Foreign Secretary also affirmed that "the war in Ukraine is our war", and continued to call for the provision of "heavy weapons, tanks and fighter jets to Ukraine".
The Kremlin's response to the British Foreign Secretary's comments came after Moscow continued to criticize NATO's arms deliveries to Ukraine. Russia said the shipments only hindered the prospects for peace in Ukraine and insisted the convoys would be treated as legitimate targets when they entered Ukraine.
"NATO is at war withRussiathrough a proxy war and providing weapons for that war," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov commented./.
