"Such calls can significantly destabilize the already tense situation in the Middle East. In any case, such an idea never helps the task and the goal of finding a solution to the Middle East problem. At the moment it is just a call, hopefully it will remain that way," Peskov said.
On the same day, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan warned that US President Donald Trump's recognition of Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights risks sparking "a new crisis".
Speaking at an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Mr. Erdogan stated: "Yesterday's regrettable statement by President Trump on the Golan Heights has pushed the region to the brink of a new crisis. We will never allow the occupation of the Golan Heights to become a legitimate act." President Erdogan declared that the OIC will "not remain silent on such a sensitive issue."
Sharing the same view, Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif said that OIC member countries also condemned President Trump's statement./.
