Russia criticizes US President's statement on gas project
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 12, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that US President Donald Trump's attack on the Nord Stream II project to transport gas from Russia to Germany is ultimately "unfair competition".
"We have already stated that we consider this unfair competition," Peskov told reporters, adding that it was an attempt to force European customers to buy more expensive gas from elsewhere.

The Kremlin representative said: "Nord Stream I and II are purely commercial projects, serving the interests of natural gas suppliers and natural gas buyers in Western Europe. Over the past decades, Russia has proven and continues to prove that it is a reliable provider of energy security for Europe."
The Russian diplomat said the US president's attack could "complicate" discussions when Mr Trump meets his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin next week.
A day earlier, President Trump criticized Germany as a "prisoner" of Russia, because Berlin imports too much energy from Moscow./.
