Russia announced the missile number that shot down MH17 belonged to the Ukrainian army.
(Baonghean.vn) - The Russian Ministry of Defense has announced the effective number of the missile that shot down Malaysia Airlines Boeing 777 flight MH17 in Eastern Ukraine in 2014; accordingly, this missile belongs to the Ukrainian army.

Speaking to the press on September 17, the commander of the missile force of the above unit, Lieutenant General Nikolai Parshin, said that on the rocket fragment that the Joint Investigation Team provided, there was a rocket engine number, through which the serial number of the missile could be determined. This missile was manufactured in the city of Dolgoprudnui in 1986, then assigned to a military unit on the territory of Ukraine and has not returned to Russia since.
The Russian Ministry of Defense also determined the date of assembly of the above missile as December 24, 1986. The missile belonged to the Prikarpat Military District and was transported to Ternopol province of the Ukrainian Soviet Republic.
The military unit that owned the missile was involved in the military operation in Donbass.
Flight MH17, en route from Amsterdam (Netherlands) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), was shot down on April 17, 2014 in Donetsk province, Eastern Ukraine, killing all 298 passengers and crew.
The Australian and Dutch governments later officially accused Russia of involvement in the plane crash. Moscow denied all accusations.
