Russia is ready to normalize bilateral relations with the US

On May 12, Vietnam time, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Moscow is ready to take an important step in Russia-US relations.

Accordingly, Russian Foreign Minister Seigrei Lavrov said: "The US has a new administration and President Donald Trump and his colleagues know what they have to do to develop good relations between Moscow and Washington. Russia is ready to step forward."

Mr. Lavrov emphasized that during his meeting with President Donald Trump on May 11, Mr. Trump reaffirmed that Washington is eager to normalize bilateral relations with Moscow.

Earlier, Foreign Minister Lavrov also held talks with US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. The two sides discussed issues such as Syria and Ukraine.

The meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and US President Donald Trump is the highest-level contact between the two countries since Mr. Trump took office on January 20.

It is known that this meeting is unprecedented, because it is rare for a Secretary of State to be received by the US President in a bilateral meeting at the White House.
