Russia submits to the House of Representatives a draft to build a GLONASS station in Vietnam
According to Itar-Tass, on May 24, the Russian Government submitted to the State Duma, the Russian Lower House, a draft law allowing the deployment in Vietnam of the Earth stations of Russia's GLONASS global positioning system.

The Russian government's announcement said the agreement, which is awaiting approval by the lower house of parliament, will create a foundation for bilateral cooperation in space research and many other related areas.
Previously, on May 11, in a press release, the Russian Government Office said that Russia is ready to build ground stations of the Russian GLONASS global satellite navigation system in Vietnam and share collected information within the framework of bilateral cooperation.
Accordingly, the Russian Government has approved draft laws on ratifying bilateral agreements with Vietnam and Nicaragua as a foundation for developing bilateral relations in the field of outer space.
The draft also includes a proposal to establish ground stations of the GLONAS system in the two partner countries.
The agreements not only mention the establishment of ground stations of the GLONASS system in Vietnam and Nicaragua, but also call on the parties to attach importance to bilateral cooperation in areas such as space information technology, long-range Earth exploration, space medicine and biotechnology, etc.
Previously, Vietnam and Russia signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of research and use of outer space for peaceful purposes.
This document was signed during the recent visit to Vietnam by Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.
The GLONASS global satellite navigation system allows determining the position and speed of vehicles on land, sea and air with an accuracy of up to 1 meter. This system began to be deployed in the Soviet Union in 1982 after the first satellite was launched into orbit in October of the same year./.
