Russia sends bombers to Crimea in response to US missile defense deployment in Romania
TU-22M3 long-range bombers were deployed to the air base in Gvardeyskoye, Crimea in response to the deployment of a US missile defense system in Romania.

"The deployment of the US missile defense system in Romania is a serious challenge. In response, the Russian Defense Ministry decided to deploy a squadron of Tu-22M3 long-range missile-carrying bombers to the Gvardeyskoye air base in Crimea. This step has completely changed the balance of forces in the region," Bondarev told reporters.
