Russia: Mistral ship contract with France has been completely resolved

On August 5, Reuters and AFP quoted sources from the Kremlin as saying that France had compensated Russia for the breach of the agreement to deliver two Mistral helicopter carriers, and affirmed that the dispute related to this contract had now been resolved.

"France has transferred funds and, after returning the equipment, will buy ownership and possibly take ownership of the two ships. Moscow considers the issue of the Mistral ships to be completely resolved," the Kremlin statement said.

The statement also added: “The Presidents of Russia and France have jointly decided to cancel the contract” for the purchase of the two helicopter carriers.
