Russia: Calling on the US to tighten sanctions on Moscow will not help Ukraine resolve the Donbass issue
Russia believes that Ukraine's call for Washington to tighten sanctions against Moscow will not help Kiev solve problems in the Donbass region.
Calls for tightening sanctions against Russia will not help the team of new Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky solve problems in the country's Donbass region, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

"Calls for sanctions against Russia are not new. The most important thing is that these calls will not help Ukraine in resolving the problem in the southeast," Peskov commented after the Ukrainian president called on the US to increase pressure on Russia.
The Kremlin spokesman also stressed that Ukraine should adhere to the list of provisions in the Minsk agreements. Mr. Peskov said that in general, Russia did not see anything new in Ukraine's policy after the country's recent presidential election.
On May 20, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky called on the US to continue tightening sanctions against Russia. Mr. Zelensky made this statement during a meeting with US Congress representatives and White House officials who came to Kiev to attend his inauguration./.
