Russia calls on Ukraine and the US to be cautious before taking action in Donbass

Russia called on Ukraine and the United States to think carefully before taking measures that could further destabilize the situation in Donbass, eastern Ukraine.

Speaking to reporters on March 3, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov emphasized: "If the US and other colleagues had listened to our calls not to take measures that would mislead the Kiev government into thinking that they could use force to solve existing problems instead of fully implementing the Minsk Agreements, then perhaps the situation there would be much better now."

Mr. Ryabkov affirmed that Moscow welcomes solutions and methods to reduce tensions and encourage Kiev to fully implement the Minsk Agreements.

The situation in Donbass has become tense since late January, when the conflicting parties accused each other of increasing shelling and attempting attacks at the contact line.

Meanwhile, recently, a group of people who participated in the military campaign organized a traffic blockade in Donbass.

In response, the two self-proclaimed states of Donetsk People's Republic (DNR) and Lugansk People's Republic (LNR) decided to take administrative control over Ukrainian agencies and enterprises in the region, including coal mines in the Donbass coal region./.
