According to Voice of Russia/Xinhua, responding to a press conference on April 21, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow has received calls for "help to deal with lawless actions" in the southeastern region of Ukraine and that Russia is in a very difficult situation in response to these pleas.

“The attacks in Slavyansk, Mariupol and many other settlements in southeastern Ukraine, the merciless and ruthless attacks by militants in camouflage are continuing. And you can see that there are more and more calls for Russia to help in dealing with this lawlessness. We (Moscow) are being put in a difficult situation,” RIA Novosti quoted the Russian Foreign Minister as saying.

The Russian Foreign Minister also declared that any attempt to isolate Russia would fail and urged the European Union (EU) to make responsible and independent decisions on sanctions.

On the morning of April 20, gunfire broke out in Slavyansk, a city in Donetsk province currently controlled by pro-Russian forces, killing at least three people.

According to the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, behind this attack were activists of the right-wing organization “Pravyi sector”./.
