Russia has 'no illusions' about restoring relations with the US soon
On January 25, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that Moscow has "no illusions" about the possibility of quickly improving tense relations between Russia and the US under the administration of new President Donald Trump.
Russian officials had previously welcomed Mr Trump's election victory and expressed hope that relations between the two countries would improve.

Speaking before the Russian Parliament, Foreign Minister Lavrov stressed that Russia "has no illusions that there will be a new 'reset' (in relations between Russia) and the United States, we do not have any naive expectations." Earlier the same day, Mr. Lavrov affirmed that Moscow welcomed Mr. Trump's commitment to improving relations with Russia.
The term “reset” was coined in 2009 by the administrations of former President Barack Obama and then-Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to describe an effort to improve relations between the two countries. However, the initiative was short-lived.
