Asked whether Russia would intervene in Iraq and Libya as it did in Syria, Mr Putin told a forum in southern Russia: “No, we don’t have any plans.”
Meanwhile, the US is directly involved in the fierce war in these Middle Eastern countries. Recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that it is very difficult to find common ground between him and the current US administration, and the two sides do not have any agreements, including on the issue of Syria. Putin affirmed that he is ready to cooperate with a new president, whoever the US citizens choose, to solve the problems.
In late September, the Syrian government army launched a military operation to retake areas in Aleppo. After that, the US announced the cancellation of talks with Russia on a ceasefire in Syria. The US and France accused Russia and Syria of being responsible for bombing hospitals in Syria. However, Russia and Syria denied the accusations and affirmed that they were only targeting rebel forces in Aleppo.
