Russia establishes electronic journalism award named after Edward Snowden
On October 29, Russia decided to establish the first award in the field of electronic journalism named after "Edward Snowden," who revealed the US global spying program.
Russia's decision also received the personal approval of Edward Snowden.

According to the award's organizer, the Russian Electronic Information Association, 83 media companies and 62 journalists submitted topics and press products to compete for this award.
The jury, consisting of leading experts in the country's high-tech sector and headed by Editor-in-Chief of the Echo of Moscow radio station Aleksey Venediktov, has now begun voting.
The Edward Snowden Awards will be awarded in three basic categories: professional journalism, projects and special awards.
The Professional Journalism Award will be presented to the best editor-in-chief and best journalist in the news, business and lifestyle categories.
The Project Award is for lifestyle newspapers, business e-media, electronic versions of radio and television channels, corporate and socio-political media, education and culture e-newspapers, e-sports, economics, as well as personal media.
Special awards will be presented by sponsors, and will also be given to recognize the most influential person in the industry during the year.
The organizers hope that the new award will honor the professionalism, merits and achievements of Russian journalists. The award ceremony will be held on November 14.
