Russia's Astronomical Agency is deploying the world's largest HiSCORE telescope in the Tunkinskaya valley, southeastern Siberia, capable of detecting gamma rays in the universe.

Aleksandr Pakhorukov, an expert at the Institute of Applied Physics of Irkutsk State University, said that this modern and unique telescope records the time and intensity of the appearance of ultra-high-energy particles in the universe, including gamma rays.

Combined with information from another recording device located 2 meters underground, Russian and German astronomers will calculate the exact time and location of the natural phenomenon in the universe.

HiSCORE is the fifth astronomical observatory located in Irkutst because this is an area with favorable climatic conditions for observing the night sky.

With the installation of the HiSCORE telescope, Russia is moving towards the goal of installing 100 astronomical observatories in the Tunkinskaya Valley alone by 2016, continuing to affirm its position among the world's leading countries in gamma-ray research in high-energy astrophysics and particle research./.
