Russia wants Trump to send an official invitation to Putin

The Russian Foreign Minister said that since Mr. Trump had extended an invitation to meet the Russian President, the US side needed to take action to materialize the proposal.

"US President Donald Trump has repeatedly invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to visit the White House during phone calls last month and Russia is waiting for the US to formalize the invitation,"MustacheNewsRussian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said today.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, in a phone call on March 20,President of the United Statessaid he would be happy to meet Mr. Putin inThe White House and is ready to accept a return visit to Russia.

"We let our American colleagues know that Russia does not want to impose, but we do not want to be impolite either. With the US President making a proposal, we act from the perspective that he will turn the invitation into concrete actions,"grandfatherLavrov said.

Mr Lavrov assessed that Mr Trump's statement on Twitter that he wanted good relations with Russia was "better than nothing".

After Mr. Trump called to congratulate Mr. Putin on his re-election on March 20, Russia-US relations suddenly went downhill. The US hasexpelled 60 Russian diplomats and closed the Russian consulate in Seattle over Moscow's alleged involvement in the poisoning of former double agent Sergei Skripal and his daughter in the UK. Russia responded with similar action.
