Russia foils terrorist attack plot in Moscow region
The Federal Security Service has foiled a terrorist attack in the Moscow region planned by members of the Islamic State (IS) group.
According to a statement from the Russian Federal Security Service, special forces have prevented activities of the international terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), in which the participants intended to carry out acts of sabotage and terrorism in the Moscow region.
Within the framework of the criminal case initiated in the Vladimir region, the security forces managed to detain one member of the group - a citizen of one of the Central Asian countries. During the investigation of the place where the Islamist extremists were staying, the authorities found homemade explosive devices, other items and documents. According to the video released by the Public Relations Center of the Federal Security Service of Russia, 5 people were detained, one of whom confessed to the crime. According to the security agency, the members of the group recruited potential fighters and raised money for the needs of terrorists.
This is the fourth time that authorities have prevented a terrorist attack in Russia in the past few months. This fall, security forces prevented terrorist attacks in Moscow, Volgograd and Stavropol.
