This device allows underwater drones to determine their location by sonar-lighthouse, and in the near future will be deployed on the bottom of the Russian continental shelf in the Arctic, - as the newspaper "Izvestia" reports.
According to the newspaper, the system includes an underwater vehicle, a sonar buoy, along with a satellite communication device "Gonets-D1M" and a GLONASS locator. As the newspaper explains, the underwater robots will patrol the area at a depth of up to 8 km. "The system is completely ready for deployment. The first working area will be the seabed near the gas drilling platform "Prirazlomnaya", - the newspaper quotes Pavel Martyshkin, the official representative of the "Okeanpribor" concern.
According to the same newspaper, the "Pozitshioner" system is planned to use several types of buoys: sinking, floating and even frozen and placed in ice.
