Russia discusses with Libya a peaceful solution
On July 20, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Libyan counterpart Abdul Ati al-Obeidi met in Moscow to discuss a political solution to the crisis in the North African country.
During the meeting, Mr. Lavrov stressed that the "top priority" task is to immediately end the bloodshed and resolve it politically.
The Russian Foreign Minister has called for early talks on future democratic arrangements in Libya, while urging Tripoli to affirm its intention to comply with UN Security Council resolutions 1970 and 1973.
For his part, Mr. Abdul Ati al-Obeidi said Libya welcomes Russia's efforts to find a peaceful solution to the conflict, stressing that "a peaceful solution must be decided by all Libyans, not by the Benghazi council."
In addition, the Libyan Foreign Minister also declared that he was not ready to discuss the departure of leader Muammar Gaddafi.
