(Baonghean.vn)- As scheduled, the 7 leaders of the UK, France, the US, Germany, Japan, Canada and Italy have gathered in the Bavarian Alps, Germany to attend the annual conference of the G7 group of countries. And once again, Russia continues to be "cold-shouldered" by Western countries when it was not invited to attend the conference.

On Monday, June 8, the leaders of the G7 group once again reaffirmed their solidarity in the fight against extremism and terrorist organizations. Not stopping there, during the summit meetings, Western countries all said that it is necessary to maintain sanctions against Russia - a country currently isolated by the conflict in Ukraine.

In a final communique issued at the G7 meeting on June 7, Western leaders continued to call for sanctions against Moscow to remain in place. Both US President Barack Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel agreed that sanctions should remain in place until Russia “respects Ukraine’s sovereignty.”

The White House has stressed a full “agreement” with Berlin on “extending sanctions to force Russia to fully implement the Minsk agreements” negotiated by President Hollande and Chancellor Merkel in February 2015.

It is known that in addition to the Ukraine issue, the G7 agenda also revolves around Greece's public debt, the fight against terrorism, climate change and development assistance for six Middle Eastern and African countries.
