Russia – China conduct military exercises to protest US – South Korea
(Baonghean) – The Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported this morning (December 6) that China and Russia have held large-scale military exercises at sea and in the air near the Korean peninsula to protest the US-South Korea exercises.
Chosun Ilbo (South Korea) quoted CCTV as saying that Chinese Air Force spokesman Shen Jinke said that this was a multi-functional exercise involving many fighter jets and early warning aircraft from both Russian and Chinese military forces. This large-scale exercise took place in the West Sea and the East China Sea, but the source did not disclose the specific time.

A spokesman for the Chinese Air Force also revealed that spy planes will participate in exercises on flight routes that the air force has never flown over.
Meanwhile, Chinese military expert Song Zhongping said the exercise between Russia and China was aimed at gathering intelligence about the exercise that the US and South Korea just conducted on December 4, which involved 230 advanced fighter jets.
Newsweek previously reported that about 1,000 sailors from Russia's Pacific Fleet conducted live-fire drills with tanks in Siberia, including the area bordering North Korea.
